This years nominated charity is the Darlington based
Education Centre for Children with Down Syndrome.

The Education Centre was originally set up in 2005 as a branch of the Down Syndrome Educational Trust, by new parent and teacher Maggie Hart because she felt that the work undertaken by the Trust would benefit her own son, Alex and other children like him in the North East of England.

In July 2006, the Education Centre for Children with Down Syndrome became an independent charity, to enable access to additional funding sources.

The ECCDS runs an Early Development Group for pre-school children and their parents, weekly during term-time (36 weeks per year). In September 2006 a new School-Age Group for 4-11 year old children was launched. These sessions run in Darlington, but take children from surrounding areas including the rest of County Durham, Tyne & Wear, Tees Valley and North Yorkshire.

After a very successful evening on Saturday 3rd October 2009, we are "staggered" to be able to announce that as a result of the generosity of those gathered we have been able to present to the ECCDS theamazing amount of £2640.08.

Our host for AP'09 was Sir John Rowling of Stokesley Christian Fellowship.

Our speaker was Major Nigel Gotobed of Stockton Citadel of The Salvation Army.

The Amazing Praise Quartet

As a result of the quartets participation in AP '09, they were asked to put together a short programme of Christmas music.

The quartet consists of Stuart Shields (Tenor), Mark McCredie (Lead), David Vaughan (Baritone) and Stewart McCredie (Bass).

Three Christmas engagements were undertaken, Billingham Baptist and South Bank Baptist Churches and the Carol Service at Stokesley Christian Fellowship.

Amongst popular carols sung by all, the quartet brought some less famiiar Christmas songs, 'He Is Here', 'Angels Bow', 'Let This Christmas Be' and 'He Started the Whole World Singing Again' and a slightly 'tongue in cheek' instrumental arrangement of 'Deck The Halls' with David on Alto Sax, Stuart on Euphonium and Stewart on Tuba!
