Amazing Praise at

Stockton Baptist Tabernacle

Ticket proceeds all in favour of Street Pastors (www.streetpastors.org.uk)

The Organising Group, under the leadership of Stewart McCredie, has again brought together an orchestra of 40 instrumentalists and a choir of over 50 from many churches across Tees Valley.

They will present a number of popular orchestral and choir pieces as well as performances from local soloists. The congregation of around 400 will be invited to join in several familiar Christian songs, both traditional and modern. It is anticipated that the whole evening will prove to be a vibrant event.

Sir John Rowling, of Stokesley Christian Fellowship, will host the evening. In addition, Jon Burns, of Yarm Vineyard Church, will share a brief 'Pause for Thought'.

Alongside the musical celebration, the intention of the evening is to focus people's minds and hearts (not to mention their purses!) onto the charity Street Pastors.

Street Pastors is an inter-denominational Church response to such urban problems, engaging with people on the streets to care, listen and dialogue.

It was pioneered in London in January 2003 by Rev Les Isaac, Director of the Ascension Trust, and has seen some remarkable results, including drops in crime in areas where teams have been working.

Each city project is set up by Ascension Trust and run by a local coordinator with support from Ascension Trust and local churches and community groups, in partnership with Police, Council and other statutory agencies.

Street Pastors believe, as followers of Jesus, that God has called them to the work of being Street Pastors - listening, caring and helping - following the example of Jesus himself, who could be said to be the original 'Street Pastor'.

Since its beginning in 2003 Street Pastors has grown rapidly. There are now over 70 Street Pastor projects around the United Kingdom but there is not an active project in Stockton yet!

Stockton's Church Leaders are actively working to this end.

The following corporate Sponsors of 'Amazing Praise': The Goshen Trust, UNISON, ReelWorship.com, and a number of individual donors have collectively raised funds to cover all costs in advance.

As a result all the proceeds from tickets will go to STREET PASTORS and with the opportunity to add further donations on the evening, we have targeted a gift of £2,000.
